About the authors

Ali Marsh lives and works in Western Australia. She has worked in the addiction field in various capacities for 20 years, as educator, researcher, clinician, and policy advisor. She has a Masters degree in clinical psychology, and a PhD, and has published extensively in the addiction area. She currently works as a senior lecturer in the School of Psychology at Curtin University, where she specialises in addiction studies, psychotherapy, and trauma. She also works as a clinical psychologist at Next Step Specialist Drug and Alcohol Service, seeing adult clients with substance use and other psychological disorders, and has a private psychotherapy practice.

Ali Dale spends most of her time living and working in Western Australia, and has over ten years’ experience working in the addictions field as an educator, researcher, and clinician. She has a Masters degree in clinical psychology, and a PhD in the area of addictions. For a number of years, Ali worked as a lecturer in addiction studies in the School of Psychology at Curtin University, and as a clinician at Next Step Specialist Drug and Alcohol Youth Services. After submitting her PhD, Ali wanted something of a sea change, and decided to apply her knowledge of addictions and change processes to the psychology of safety in the mining and resource industry.
